Professional Development Opportunities

There are a variety of professional development opportunitites related to the Texas Event Leadership Program. A certificate of completion from the program can be applied towards professional certification with Texas Association of Fairs and Events (TAF&E) and/or Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA). International certification can be obtained through International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA). Each organization will have additional requirements, which are briefly outlined below.

"Certified Fair Executive (CFE)"
Texas Association of Fairs and Events (TAF&E)

TAF&E requirements for this professional designation include:

  • TAF&E membership
  • Completion of the Texas Event Leadership Program
  • Experience
  • Seminars, curriculum, and professional credit

"Certified Festival Professional (CFP)"
Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA)

TFEA requirements for this professional designation include:

  • TFEA membership
  • Completion of the Texas Event Leadership Program
  • Seminars
  • Experience
  • Curriculum
  • Presentations
  • Interview

"Certified Festival and Events Executive (CFEE)"
International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA)

The IFEA Certified Festival and Events Executive (CFEE) Program is the highest level of professionalism in the festival and event business. Program components for this certification include:

  • IFEA membership
  • Seminars
  • Experience
  • Convention attendance
  • Publication
  • Speaking presentations
  • Assessment - case studies
