Enrollment Information

How can I enroll?

Individuals can enroll in the program at any time by contacting the Texas AgriLife Extension Service. There is a one-time $50 registration fee for enrollment in the TELP certificate program. The enrollment fee must be paid before taking core curriculum courses. The fee ensures that your progress will be recorded as modules are completed.

A certificate of completion from the Texas Event Leadership Program will only be awarded to those who have paid the curriculum enrollment fee before taking the required courses and have completed all requirements.

To enroll in the Texas Event Leadership Program, you will need to submit the following to the Texas AgriLife Extension Conference Services:

  1. TELP Certificate Enrollment Form
      • Option A: Click here to Enroll Online
      • Option B: Request a printable version for submission by fax or mail by calling our office at 845-5419.
  2. Registration fee: payable by check or credit card

How is the program completed?
Certificate requirements include completion of 25 core modules, 3 elective modules, volunteer service (50 service points), and submission of a written business plan for a festival, fair, or event. Each module is taught in 1.5 hour sessions.

Individuals who wish to apply their certificate towards professional certification may be required to complete more elective modules. Please contact the certification granting organization for additional requirements.

Volunteer service points can be acquired by completing any combination of the following amounting to 50 points (points awarded to be dertermined on an individual basis):

  1. Serve as a speaker at a local, regional, or state festival, fair, or event seminar
  2. Serve on an event committee
  3. Serve as a mentor to another event planner
  4. Write an article for a newsletter or magazine that circulates in the event industry
  5. Serve as a "mystery shopper" to offer an evaluation of an event
  6. Other activities as approved by the Texas Event Leadership Program

In order to receive credit, volunteer service points must be reported to Extension via a Volunteer Service Points Report.

The approximate time required to complete the Texas Event Leadership Program is two to three years. Actual time will depend on individual circumstances. Once enrolled in the program, Extension will keep a record of your progress towards certificate completion.
