These wildlife and agriclutural/range research and demonstration facilities, are available to visit for your class, family, business, group activity; day use/tours and overnight retreats. Researchers are also welcome to propose projects. The program is part of the effort to reseach and teach about agricultural diversification and the requirements of operating a quality, profitable nature tourism or ecotourism business. This facility is helping us learn and share information about land managment, agricultural operations, diversification & tourism programs. We research and share information programs, managment, promotions, pricing etc that work and those that don't work within this situation. Combine a stay at one of these facilities with your visit to the beach and you can significantly increase your Texas wildlife, agriculture and history trivia skills along with general travel bragging rights. All this while helping further research into wildlife conservation and agricultural diversification. All visits must be scheduled to allow for staff to be present for your visit. Visiting purely for fun is perfectly welome, in fact the more fun you have the more fun we have. We do ask each visitor to complete a short evaluation to help us understand what you like and don't like. Enjoy miles of guided trails & roads, night sky observation, history, a nature trail, birding stations, photography blinds, hunting and fishing and both walking and driving routes. Take time to observe the wildlife from an observation blind with feeder and water feature, in a section where cattle have been excluded for over twenty years. Tours will expose you to the every day activities of a working ranch, cattle, goats, guard donkey...and guard dogs, and provide ample opportunity to experience ranching and the wildlife of South Texas. You can choose to learn about the specialized range, wildlife and ecotourism research that is done for and by Texas A&M University.
