Thesis Topic:
Wintering Duck Response to trail use at former San Francisco Bay Salt
Ponds.Short
Bio:
Originally from a small town in the Ozarks of southern Missouri, I moved
to California in 1997 to attend school. I graduated from Sonoma State
University in Rohnert Park, CA with a B.A. in Environmental Studies in
2001. As an undergraduate, I explored my interests in wildlife
conservation and environmental restoration with various research
projects. After graduation, I worked at a wild bird rehabilitation center
for a couple of years before starting graduate school.
I’ve been in the Environmental Studies graduate program at San Jose State
University in San Jose, CA since 2005 and hope to graduate in the fall of
2008. For my thesis research, I am examining the response of wintering
ducks to trail use at former salt production ponds at the Don Edwards San
Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. While conducting my thesis
research, I am concurrently working on my certificate in Geographic
Information Science. I also work part-time in the Environmental Health
and Safety department at eBay, Inc., which is headquartered in San Jose.
My outside interests include hiking, camping, reading, yoga, movies,
music, and visiting with friends.
