Bio:
Timia D. Thompson is a graduate
of the University of Florida (UF) with a B.S. in Environmental Science and
a minor in English. She recently completed her Master’s degree in Parks,
Recreation & Tourism Management at North Carolina State University. Her
thesis was entitled, “Examining the Effects of Race, Ethnicity, Gender,
Age, and Socioeconomic Status on U.S. National Park Visitation: An
Application of the Multiple Hierarchy Stratification Perspective”. She is
currently working on her Ph.D. also at NC State. Timia’s professional
interests include race and ethnicity, national parks, environmental
socialization, and physical activity in urban parks. She is a member of
the George Wright Society, the North Carolina Recreation and Park
Association (NCRPA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA),
where she sits on the board of the NRPA Student Branch Board of Directors
as President-Elect.
