University of Maine, PhD

Thesis Topic:
Vegetation Impact and Visitor Management in Sub-Alpine Nature Environment Using GIS and Remote Sensing: Summit of Cadillac Mountain, Acadia National Park.

Short Bio:
I completed a B.A. degree in urban & regional planning at Chung-Ang University, South Korea, in 2000.  Strong motivation for studying environment and sustainability led me to pursue two advanced degrees: a M.A. degree in environmental education & science at Seoul National University in 2002, and a M.U.P. degree in environmental planning at SUNY Buffalo in 2004.  Since graduation, as a Ph.D. student in the University of Maine, I am studying parks, recreation, and tourisms focusing on human dimension of natural resource management through geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) technology.  In my dissertation research, I will analyze the relationship between vegetation impact and management approach by using remote sensing technology, focusing on sensitive sub-alpine nature environment.
