Thesis Topic:
An examination of the place-based meanings community stakeholders
ascribe to Everglades National Park as a way of identifying a framework
for land managers to use in understanding sense of place and fostering
local stakeholder support and involvement in conservation practices.

Bio:
Tinelle Bustam is a graduate fellow and PhD
candidate of Natural Resource Recreation
at the University of Florida. Her research interests include
qualitative approaches
to understanding place attachment of rural and native communities near
protected
areas and the integration of sense of place into management frameworks.
After
completing her PhD degree, she plans to continue her research studies at
an academic
institution with land grant extension services for local communities.
