Thesis Topic:
Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse Micro-habitat Selection in a Managed Marsh

Short Bio:
I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Environmental Studies from San Jose State University where I am researching habitat restoration for the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse.  My research interests are wildlife biology, GIS, and park planning.  I am currently employed as a GIS intern with the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, a regional greenbelt system in the SF Bay Area.  I believe knowledge of policy and economics is an important aspect of park management and planning and I'm looking forward to learning more about conservation policy during our seminar.

Research Interests
  • Wildlife management, wildlife biology, and GIS.
Work Experience
  • I worked as a field assistant for a fellow graduate student (and ParkBreak! Fellow) studying trail use effects on waterfowl behavior.  I also interned at NASA Ames Research Center where I lead an intern research project where we collected leaf area index data (a key input in ecosystem models) in Yosemite National Park and compared our field results with satellite data.  I am currently employed as a GIS intern with the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, a regional greenbelt system in the SF Bay Area.
